Boredom simply does not exist in this beautiful resort area of the Mexican Caribbean. The assortment of attractions abound, keeping the traveler engaged, for even the lengthiest of visits.

The island's options for children and young adults include a variety of activities. For a real lift, let go and fly a kite from the vantage point of the El Mirador de la Playa Delfines. Play a round of mini-golf at the Cancún Palace Hotel's Golfito. Swimming with dolphins at the Xcaret will leave any traveler something to return home and tell about. Kayaking, skating or cycling along the Ciclopista in the Plaza Kukulcán. Parents are invited to participate in these activities as well. Movie-lovers will be pleased to find the latest releases offered at the 10 fully equipped theatres in the plush cinema complex Cinemark, located in the La Isla Shopping Centre.

Aboard the Mississippi style river boat, The Cancún Queen, or the service of the Colombus Coaster Cruise view the island off its shores. Scheduled cruises depart every couple of hours from the hotel area. The archaeological ruins of the lost Mayan civilization at Chichen Itza are located 87 miles from the island. The renown Zona Arqueológica de Tulum are situated some 70 miles distance. Isla Mujeres, an exotic natural sanctuary with deep-sea diving available, is a mere 6 miles away. A visit to the ecological and archaeological park of Xcaret is a must, offering underground rivers and caves, a dip with the dolphins, or an evening multimedia show recounting Mayan history. Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras are a few hours drive from the island, as well as Xel-Ha, a natural aquarium for snorkeling and swimming. For the adventurous spirit and jungle explorer, excursions are available to the Reserva de la Biósfera Sian Ka'an, to discover the mangroves and the wildlife thriving in this almost virgin territory.
