Even when the weather isn't too promising in Birmingham, you're guaranteed Caribbean sunshine in the Xaymaca. The walls of the restaurant are decorated with Jamaican souvenirs; if they don't transport you to the Caribbean, the authentic fare certainly should. Choose from dishes such as ackee and salt fish, curried goat or plantain stuffed with seasoned calaloo and topped with cheese. You can also try one of the restaurant's unique cocktails. If you want an intimate dinner for friends, Xaymaca is open for private party bookings during the first part of the week. But generally the staff encourage a more sociable atmosphere, with limbo dancing an optional extra.
