This is the restaurant of Gary Rhodes - TV celebrity chef, famed for his spiky hair and cheeky smile... and his excellent cooking. Given that he is constantly knocking out TV series and has several restaurants to his name, it doesn't take much to work out that he is not always at work in the kitchen here. Nevertheless, it is as if the cheeky one were working his magic—his menu, his standards, his touch-by-proxy pervades everything. As with most things Rhodes-esque, there is an emphasis on traditional British cuisine, brought bang up-to-date with modern, quirky, sophisticated and extremely accomplished ideas. Pigeon faggots and guinea fowl with butterbean are examples, but of particular note are the excellent desserts—save room. Prices are generally a bit lower than City Rhodes.
