There are several different choices of accommodation to choose from in Oslo. These range from five-star hotels of the highest international standard to moderate and inexpensive private lodgings approved by the Tourist Office. Most of the choices are in the city center itself or usually within reasonable walking distance of it.
City Center & Karl Johans Gate The main street in Oslo is Karl Johans Gate, and it runs from Sentralstasjonen up to the Royal Castle, a pleasant 15-minute walk. Right in between these, the well-known five-star Grand Hotel covers one of the blocks, and just across the road is Hotel Karl Johan, both of these facing Stortinget. Close-by on one of the side streets, another five-star hotel is Hotel Bristol Close to Sentralstasjonen is the SAS Radisson Plaza, not just another five-star hotel, but also the tallest building in Oslo. One other choice in the Radisson chain is the SAS Radisson Scandinavia. Another jewel is Hotel Royal Christiania, now part of Choice Hotels Scandinavia, located just across from Sentralstasjonen. The only hotel boasting membership of "The Finest Hotels of the World" is Hotel Continental opposite Nationaltheatret. KNA Oslo is a member of the Scandic Hotels chain.
