Getting there & Getting around

Getting there

Countless buses cover the 20-minute trip to Bournemouth. National Express runs hourly to London (3hrs). Trains connect with London Waterloo (50min) and also service Bournemouth, Dorchester South and Weymouth.

Sandbanks Ferry shuttles across to Studland every 20 minutes. This is a short cut from Poole to Swanage, Wareham and the west Dorset coast, but summer queues can be horrendous.

Bus 152 goes from Poole to Sandbanks (15min, hourly).

Getting around

You can hire bikes from Cycle Paths at Dolphin Shopping Centre. Cycling on the promenade is unrestricted from the middle of September to the middle of June. At all other times it is permitted before 10:00 and after 19:00.

There are two main taxi ranks. One at Dolphin Shopping Centre and another 24-hour taxi rank at Poole railway station. Alternatively, there are two evening taxi ranks. One in Lower High Street (by the Hogs Head public house) and another on the Quay.
