Unlike the rest of Venezuela, Mérida maintains a pretty cool climate - the weather is best from October to June. As a general guide, the Venezuelan Andes enjoys a dry season from December to April. May to June is a period of changeable weather, with a lot of sunshine but also frequent rain (or snow at high altitudes). This is usually followed by a short, relatively dry period from late June to late July before the long, really wet season begins. The months from August to October are the wettest - hiking can be miserable during this time. The snowy months are between June and October.
