Getting there & Getting around

Getting there

Brentwood is on the London commuter belt, 30km (20mi) east of London's Charing Cross.

Stansted, City and Southend airports are all 30- to 40-min drive away. Try Airport Cars (01277 219 480) to get back and forth.

If you're driving, the M25 runs south of the town and the A12 bypasses it to the north.

Brentwood doesn't have a railway station in the town centre because of its position on a hill. Brentwood Station is located south of the town and is served by London Eastern Railway Ltd. Trains travel to London's Liverpool Street Station and Shenfield Railway Station. For timetable information, contact the National Rail Enquiry Service (08457 484 950; www.nationalrail.co.uk).

Getting around

Public transport in and around Brentwood is all about buses. For timetable information, contact Essex County Hall (08456 037 631; publictransport@essexcc.gov.uk).

For a taxi, try ABC Cars (01277 216 060). There's also a rank outside the train station.
