Getting there
Bolton is only about 19km (12mi) from central Manchester and is part of the Greater Manchester urban sprawl. Frequent local buses and trains make the short commuter trip into Manchester. There are half a dozen train stations serving the Bolton metropolitan area - Bolton Trinity Street is the town centre interchange. Regional and long-distance train services generally pass through Manchester's Picadilly Station.
Bolton's main bus station is on Moor St, where National Express operates buses to York, Blackpool, Liverpool and further afield.
By road, Bolton is just off the M61 motorway (exit on A666), while the A6 is a major north-south road passing the city.
The nearest airport is Manchester, 27km (17mi) south of Bolton.
