Celebrations in honour of the national saint used to be confined to one riotously drunken day in Ireland, but now the country rocks for the duration of a 'St. Patrick's festival'. In addition to the parade, street parties, and outdoor ceilì, the pubs of Temple Bar host a Fleadh from the 15th to the 17th of March each year. A fleadh is a dispersed and informal concert of traditional Irish music; free gigs are held in most pubs and a larger concert takes place in one of the fine little squares in the Temple Bar area. A great time to be in Dublin.
