Jesmond is fast becoming the place to be seen in Newcastle, with a host of new restaurants and bars opening up. The delightfully different Indigo (attached to the Kenilworth Hotel) is one of the most recent of these. Whatever the name is supposed to represent, it isn't the interior colour scheme. The walls are painted a vivid lipstick red, which should put you off your food, but which, strangely enough, seems to work. The menu is an eclectic mix of styles from every continent, and the waiters are so eager to please that you sometimes wish they wouldn't try so hard. If you fancy getting out of the city centre for a slightly offbeat culinary experience, then Indigo is certainly worth a try.
