Dr. Maulana Karenga is the founder of this cultural institute and is also the founder of the seven principles of Kwanzaa (the Nguzo Saba in Swahili). There are several historical and educational displays as well as art exhibits. The school provides several learning workshops as well as Saturday school for children during the school year.
