Introduction

Teardrop-shaped Cozumel has seen some hard times - Spanish invasion, a smallpox epidemic, and even Hurricane Wilma in 2005 - but these days it's a calm, charming island with a primo diving reputation. Otherwise known as Ah-Cuzamil-Peten (Island of Swallows), it's Mexico's most populous island.
