The Touareg are the tribal, nomadic people of North Africa, and as of a few months ago, the namesake of this new addition to the thriving Whiteladies Road restaurant scene. Inside, the decor is classic North African (there's even a tented room) and wonderfully evocative of warmer climes. Every Thursday evening is "Casablanca Night", when the live piano player will have you imagining that Humphrey Bogart will walk in at any moment! The menu offers cuisine from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Libya. Here's your chance to try some traditional and unusual delicacies such as harrira soup (chickpeas, herbs and spices) or pastilla of pigeon (sweet and spicy pastry filled with wild pigeon) for starters; lamb, duck, rabbit or seafood tagine (containing fruits, vegetables, meat and spices and cooked in a terracotta pot), couscous dishes, vegetarian options and fish specialities such as hammamet red bream. Desserts include orange blossom and honey ice cream and maghrebi sweets.
Delicious morrocan food. The belly dance was highly stimulating.
