One of the more prestigious restaurants among those specialising in regional cuisine, specifically that of dishes from the Mérida area, is this establishment which occupies a rustic looking construction that has an equally rustic atmosphere within.
In the soups department, try the Chicken Broth, the Andean Pisca or the Cream of Celery. Local delicacies include trout either in garlic sauce, smoked, fried or meuniere; the national dish referred to as Pabellón Criollo (shreded meat, black beans, white rice and fried plantain); and the Moorland Rabbit. A sweet array of typical desserts, such as figs in heavy syrup, shredded squash, cassava pastry, and rice pudding round up the outstanding, locally inspired menu.
