Paia is a charming town with a unique blend of shops, restaurants, beaches, and sights. The laid back attitude of the people there will make anyone feel at ease almost instantly. Within a few miles you can visit an art gallery, grab a beer and a burger, go to the beach and watch surfers trying to catch the next wave, or take a drive through the country side. Just a few miles up Baldwin Avenue will take you to a charming church adorned with a monument built as a tribute to Father Damien, as well as interesting facts about Father Damien and his plight to help those afflicted with Laprosy. The church itself is beautiful. I would highly recommend anyone who visits Maui to take a day to visit Paia, or make it your primary destination, as Many other very cool things are fairly accessible from Paia.
