Overall

I was raised here, then business required me to travel & move elsewhere. I've spent time in Columbus & Cleveland, Indianapolis, Boston, Providence...all over...and came back to Jax the first chance I got. This city has changed tremendously in the 30+ years since my family came here from Chicago. You'll often hear people badmouthing Jacksonville, and many times they have little (if any) experience with the place...just repeating what they've heard elsewhere, or clinging to old arguments. We have numerous excellent restaurants, big-city shopping, and enough outdoor activities to keep you going year 'round. This place is a water- and golf-lovers PARADISE. And we have plenty of quality theater, music, dance & art...all without the hassle of NYC (which I've also experienced first-hand). The weather is exceptional...and the only reason we have so much traffic (which, granted, is growing faster than our infrastructure can handle it) is because so many people have figured out what a gem Jacksonville truly is. A great place to visit (AND live).
