We are a Christian family of six. We love Ft Myers. We stay on Estero Blvd. We felt safe there. People where nice. Very beautiful beach! We looked for a place to go and have fun where we would feel safe and our four children would not have to see offensive behavior we have seen at other beaches. Great place to go.

(Report Problem)I live here and cannot wait to move out of here. I am from the Northeast and Florida is a whole new world and not in a good way. It is too hot, humid and buggy for a good portion of the year. When the weather is bearable, the snowbirds are here to clog up the roads, stores, beaches and restaurants. It is too expensive and there is not much to do. There are so many old people and tons of people who cannot drive. The roads are always congested because there are only a few main roads that go everywhere. No back roads. I cannot wait to move!

(Report Problem)We head for Ft Myers ever other year with our 3 children and absolutely adore it - we always have a great holiday and think why risk going anywhere else and not enjoying it, when we love Ft Myers so much? We fly out from London in the United Kingdom which by the time we arrive takes nearly 24 hours from leaving home, so you can imagine we wouldn't travel that long with 3 kids if it wasnt something special! Glorious white power sandy beaches, superb places to eat out and we shop 'til we drop. Coming back in October and sooooo really can't wait!

(Report Problem)I live here too and while I agree roads are congested and restaurants and beaches are packed in seaoson, I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather live. I moved from Ohio five years ago and would never go back. The skies are blue most every day, there is always a breeze and so much to do if you like water sports. There are two new shopping areas Gulf Coast Town Center (S. Ft. Myers) and Coconut Pt. (Estero/Bonita) north and south of Miromar Outlet Malls that are both incredible. It is a growing area and our state depends on tourism -- so keep on coming down and enjoying our city! It is crowded for a reason - lots of people WANT to be here to enjoy our weather and our city.
Great for: Beaches, Hiking/Camping, History/Culture

(Report Problem)fort myers is a nice area but it is growing to fast for its own good. it is good for a vacation but not to live. the traffic is horrible especially on rt 41 and i75 and also by the beach. the beach in the tourist season forget goin cuz u wont make it there before sunset. and the 6 bucks toll to sanibel sucks.

(Report Problem)I visited Ft. Myers for Spring Training, and found the Twins much more fan-friendly than the Red Sox (as a red sox fan). Make sure to spend a day or more in the Everglades, the wildlife and nature is extraordinary. As much as possible, stay out of Ft. Myers proper.

(Report Problem)I enjoyed seeing what there was to see, but the overall atmosphere, while it was raining and pleanty of hurricanes were thrashing through the area, was depressing. I felt unsafe, not because of the weather, but because of the crowded roads and the amount of times I heard sirens made New York look safe. When I visited the beach, the water was mucky and I couldn't see my feet 2 feet deep. The town apparently doesn't have a clean/beautifying program. I did enjoy the shopping, where there were extensive choices, but prices were rater laughable.

(Report Problem)I live here. Forget the average annual temps...from early June to Late December it is upper 80's to Low 100's here. The other three months are upper 30's to upper 70's. Ft. Myers is a CITY with all the traffic ties up that can happen. "Season" is the worst time. (Season is October-May.) Prices are highest, traffic is at its worst and the weather does not compensate for those. The locations of nearly everything you want to get to are at least a 30 min one-way drive away. If you do come to visit plan to drive a car here, the public bus system is limited. I would move if I could.
