Great capital city with four wonderful seasons. Ocean and mountains are close and the vibe is great in the renewed downtown.

(Report Problem)My fiance and I just got back from DC and have fallen in love with the city. We stayed outside of the city in Tysons Corner and drove to downtown every day (about 15 minutes tops). This city is unbelievable! First of all, almost everything is free-the museums, the zoo, all the monuments. There was not one place we visited that we had to pay for. We even saw President Bush drive by on his way to the capitol! (whether you like the man or not, it was a pretty cool thing to see) No building is taller than the capitol (per city ordinance), and there is grass everywhere-people running and flying kits all over the place. Georgtown was awesome too-total college area, which we love, with tons of restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. We also went and ate in Chinatown one night, and that area was a little "shady" on one side of it; it looked a little run down... All in all, this trip was fabulous! I had gone when I was a kid, but this still blew me away! There is so much to see and do that even in a weeks time, we could not fit it all in. I mean, you could spend one day alone at all of the sites. My fav was the supreme court lecture and the zoo. We got to see baby cheetahs that were just born, and of course the famous pandas! I am in love with this city-even considering a move there! The city really reminds me of Europe with all of the historic buildings to see....

(Report Problem)I love Washington DC. because there is only one thing that it is about and that is history, nothing but history which is a place that is really hard to find. The whole city is nothing but historic sights and evryone should go see them. In the smithsonian museums I got to see the way our country has andvanced in technology and art in it's entirety. I got to see the great presidents that have changed our country in more ways then one. I got to see Arlington Cemetary( I have a review for it) and the many great people in our service's graves. Some of the things could have been betterly built like the Martin Luther King jr. tablet and the Eleanor Rossevelt tablet and the John F. Kennedy tablet.( when they should be monuments)

(Report Problem)Washington,D.C.,since 1800 the nation's captial...ever since the 1980's,the nation's murder captial. trust me,I used to live there. Washington,DC stinks! I mean every place except downtown,I love it there. But seeing as how I have drive up and down the NJ turnpike every now and then,u know I know what bad smells like. DC is worse.20 years ago,u would not believe this but as of now in 2005,it is actually a safer bet that nothing will happen to you if u are out at night here in NYC than if you're strolling through DC. You cant find a cab,the Metro trains cut off at midnight and run again in oh about 5 hours...what the heck is that?! in NYC they are always running! look people, unless you're protesting, plain and simple,DC is not a place you want to visit.

(Report Problem)The history of Washington D.C. cannot be topped. This is the center of the free world and the history inside each building is unique. There is so much to do and see, from the Smithsonian museums, monuments, historical buildings, government offices, etc. You even need to spend time finding the unusual from the Boy Scout monument, National Aquarium, Congressional Cemetery, and the Postal Museum. Take the time look around, spend a day at one place and come back again to see what else is new. I can spend day at Arlington National Cemetery just to walk around and see who is there, try finding the Pentagon 9/11 memorial, it is there. Enjoy D.C., you cannot walk around and do the things you can here in other countries.

(Report Problem)Good wine store with good prices but know what you like/want to try before going in. Staff suggestions are not for the casual drinker.
