We stayed for 5 nights at the Stratosphere, which was good value for money. A day pass for the bus that went up and down the strip cost about $5. There were plenty of shows but with the cost of some of them, I would rather spend the money and see the shows up the West End. I suffer from asthma and found the smokey atmosphere too much at times, you definately notice a stale stench as you go in and out of the hotels. At first the prositute adverts on giant boards on the back of trucks was funny as were the touts offering cards with the prostitutes details in front of your face. It quickly became offensive and we felt really hassled, the middle of the strip was the worst area. I thought that there were 3 places worth visiting, Margaritaville, Top of the World Restaurant and the Grand Canyon. The restaurant which is on top of the Stratosphere, was expensive but worth every penny for the a unique experience. You are met and taken in a lift to the 106th floor, where you can have a cocktail before being shown to your table. The restaurant has full length glass windows from top to bottome and slowly rotates as you eat so that you see out over the whole of Vegas. We were seated at a lovely table facing out so that we did not miss the fantastic view. It lasted longer than a helicopter ride and we saw a lot more! We visited the Grand Canyon in a Hummer, which seemed more personal, interesting and great value. I think 3 days in Vegas in more than enough.
