very sad city

one star

I've lived in St. Louis for over a year now. It is the biggest ghetto on earth. Every five minutes I feel like a going to be attacked by one of the 50,000 gangs that roam the streets. The city is dirty and full of rude people. If you come here, make sure you're willing to run stoplights if you venture into the wrong part of town. Also, don't ask for directions because all you'll get is the finger. The public transportation is the only nice thing about this place. The arch is awesome...for about five seconds and the food with the exception of some places on the hill stinks. Another thing: The freeway system here is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. From someone who lives here, save your money and either go to California where it's beautiful, NYC where there is a lot to do, or down to Texas where everyone is as friendly as can be. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CITY.

Go to St. Louis

four stars

I am originally from St. Louis and currently live in Indianapolis, IN. St. Louis has so much to offer - The Black Reptory Theatre, the Art Museum (free)and the world famous zoo (also free). There are so many locally owned and unique restaurants and shops in the U-City Loop, Central West End, Soulard and Lafayette Square. The abundance of fast food chain restaurants and unoriginal shops in Indianapolis is ridiculous!

Enjoy St. Louis

five stars

Take a good pair of walking shoes because most anything you want to do is within a healthy walking distance from downtown. Catch a sporting event, visit a blues bar on Broadway and the food and drink served at the Landings in old St. Louis. Friendly folks and liesurely pace.

I love St Louis

four stars

I love St Louis! So much culture and so much to do. It tends to be pretty crowded downtown but it is pretty easy to get around. I had a blast at the St. Patty's Day parade and Lacede's landing was amasing. Morgan Street Brewery had a fun atmosphere and great beer. I love the city museum because it is an adult play playground. St Louis is a great city and there is so much to do.

STL

four stars

I lived in downtown STL for several months. Don't stay out West (suburbia isn't for tourist). Ride the metro from the airport (SO CONVIENT). Traveling with family--Visit forest park (great free zoo, science center, and art & history museum) Young at heart visit--U city, Washington street a night. I can't wait until metrolink is expanded. Props for public transport save oil!

Nice Vacation

four stars

Overall, St. Louis is an awesome city to visit! There are so many things to see; such as, the Arch, Galleria, Grant's Farm, and the numerous sporting venues. There are also many lesser know places of interest just outside of the city, like the Cahokia Mounds in Collinsville, IL. I lived close to St. Louis for over two years and enjoyed my time there, however, there is no way that I would ever want to live in the City! The housing is in poor condition and there are numerous abondoned buildings, which creates an eyesore. St. Louis is a nice place to visit, but be prepared to fork over some money if you want to enjoy your visit.

Okay, but not impressed

three stars

Great sports city. Unfortunately not much else. I would recommend staying out of the city of St. Louis. West St. Louis County is much safer, but there aren't as many things to do.

OK...but want to move

three stars

I've lived in St. Louis for a year and a half. Its easy to stay busy because there's alot to do. The night life is good and gives you various different options depending on what your idea of fun is. Unfortunatly I've found the people in St. Louis to be closed minded and non-welcoming at times. It can be difficult to meet new people if your not originally from there. People seem to have this strange connection to the highschool they attended and long after they've graduated will continue to ask people they've just met what highschool they went to. I've also found St. Louis to be very diverse, but also very segragated. No melting pot here. Most roads here are poorly maintained and not designed to service the amount of traffic on them.

Never a dull moment!

five stars

Grew up there and moved out about 8 years ago. Recently went back and was amazed at how much change there was. STL is always changing and evolving for the better. Downtown in amazing and never gets boring. I have been planning to take all my friends up there to show them what a real city is all about!
