We love this city, yeah it has it bad parts like ALL city's do, it all good. I moved here cause it was so great. Minnesota nice is everywhere, some people are rude maybe they are having a bad day. U can't expect everyone to be kind, am I right? We know the weather is weird, but thats what minnesota is known for, its unusual weather. one thing I really like about this city is the convinence of everything your never really far from anything. Most places you go e.g. restraunts, service stations, etc. Have high costumer service standards. from my point of view anyway, I was always treated good. Most of all I love it hear cause your never far from a lake. I love to fish so thats good for me.

(Report Problem)People rude? Have you ever been to Paris or New York for that matter? Minnesotans are some of the kindest people I have ever meet. The cities are also some of cleanest and neat ones I have ever visited. Hold New York, there are more theaters there than any other city in the US per capita. Just in any other American city, if you go to a chain like Olive Garden you will get shitty food. There are an unbelievable amount of parks, lakes and rivers. I simply don't know what these other reviewers were talking about.

(Report Problem)Like most northern towns, it's grungy, dirty, industrial, cold, and cluttered. NOT a nice place to live if you like wide open spaces, beautiful plants and flowers, or even a nice warm mid-March day. Though I have to admite that the Twin Cities are nicer than Cleveland, Detroit, or Pittsburgh, it's still a cold, dreary northern town. There IS Minnesota nice, but it's to be found in smaller towns like Brainerd, Park Rapids, Detroit Lakes, Roseau and Two Harbors. The worst part is probably the weather. This year snow didn't melt until mid-may and it left dirt and disaster in it's wake. When you're not in dirt and disaster you're in overly-upkept shopping plazas like Woodbury. This is a place I've been able to tolerate for 10 months, and 10 months only. Even in the summer you can have a cold dready day barely above 50 degrees. Chances are, if you buy a house up here it will NOT have a decent yard. Now, that I've stated the Bad I'll state the good. I have to say that everyone who said the restaurants are crap up here, you obviously didn't dig deep enough to find the good ones. Here is a short list: Duc's, Shuang Chengs, Village Wok, Holy Land, Everest on Grand, Kybher Pass, Sushi Tango, Cosetta's, Baja Sol, Chipotle, The Melting Pot, and many more. There are also a lot of biking/walking trails than I have noticed in many cities along rivers and in beautiful wooded areas. Plus, the state fair which is held August-September usually is during the best month or so of the year. Basically, to put it into short: Good: Food, trails, events Bad: Weather, atmosphere, driving, space My home is in Mobile, AL and I go home in just 2 months, yay!

(Report Problem)There is nothing special about this place, from its residents assholish behavior on and off the road, to the shit food found at many cluelessly bad restaurants. Minnesotans know very little about almost any other state except perhaps the bordering ones. Stupid laws prohibit you from buying beer or wine on sundays, or at the grocery store. The city of Minneapolis refuses to crack down on the many panhandling drug dealers/users downtown at all hours of the day and night, because they perceive that as racist, or are afraid they'll be called racist, because they're absurdly liberal imbeciles. The weather sucks here nine months out of the year, your car will be ruined by the excessive salting of everything under the sun. The malls are all outdated pieces of dung, there is nothing to do all winter long unless you like freezing your face off outside. Stay away for your own good! Do not move here for work or romance! This is a horrible place to live! There is a LOT of airplane noise here. I live twenty miles from the airport, it's early in the morning and a nice loud jet just went over. Minnesotans are also a real fat group of people on the whole, because, again, there is nothing to do here from October to April. The freeways here are abominable, the drivers are even worse, and they never ever learn how to handle driving in snow or even rain. Why? Because minnesotans are stupid, that's why.

(Report Problem)I moved to MPLS in 2000, and I don't plan on leaving EVER. This city and metropolitan area of over 3.2 MILLION has it all....world class art, theatre attendance second only to New York City, a beautiful dense and thriving downtown full of shimmering skyscrapers, every major (and minor) league sports team imaginable, clean streets, BEAUTIFUL and gorgeous parks, an ever-expanding transit system (2 new lines of rail will add to the Hiawatha Line by 2012), educated people, a great job market, very lively night life scene, GREAT restaurants, and the people are open-minded. I have traveled ALL over this country, and to several cities abroad, and I have to say that I'm ALWAYS glad to get back home to Minneapolis/St Paul...THAT'S when you know you live in a great place. All these people that say that there is no culture are plain ignorant, and they probably live in the suburbs...suburbs blow ass no matter WHAT city they are apart of...MOVE TO THE CITY!! Bottom line: if all one can think of to do while here is go to the monstrosity called the Mall of America, then they are quite successful in their ability to ignore the obvious. That or they spent their entire trip in one of our suburbs.

(Report Problem)Moved to Minneapolis thinking it would be a great place to live - WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. I hate this place more than I have ever hated anything. The people are horrible - they are mean for no reason - in public and on the roads especially. There is nothing unique about this place - the Mall of America is a good example...just commercialized BS as far as the eye can see. Everyone is closed-minded and not cultured. If you ask people around here what their favorite Italian restaurant is, the majority will say Olive Garden!!! Ugh. I can't wait to get out of here and get my life back. I tried to give this place a chance but have given up - and have been pretty much clinically depressed since. Nice place!

(Report Problem)People are mean - the "Minnesota Nice" is a myth. I call it the Minnesota Mean. Everything is the same - big box stores and chains. The drivers are insane and mean.

(Report Problem)Ever heard of "The Minnesota Nice"? It's a myth. The folks here are mean, pretentious and fairly uninformed. Getting around this town is total hell as the traffic is insane, the drivers are downright scary and the transit system is useless and expensive. Thinking about avoiding motor travel altogether? Think again. The city has been planned in such a way that getting anywhere on foot or by bicycle is totally impossible. The weather here is all about extremes-- most of the time its either below zero or 90 and humid. There are about ten "pleasant" days a year. If you're wealthy, you can take advantage of all the theaters and cultural attractions around town. If you're like the rest of us, all there is to do is hang out at the mall of america (which is a nightmare in itself) or drink piss beer and eat crummy food at one of the areas many bad restaurants. Try finding good mexican or indian or sushi or chinese around here-- it doesn't exist. There are a bunch of weird morality laws in MN that are leftover from when the area was settled by a bunch of lutherans two hundred years ago. This means that you can't buy a car on sunday or a bottle of wine at the grocery store. The cost of living here is ridicuolusly expensive for the midwest, and the quality of life is really poor. That is, unless you enjoy being deafened by constant air traffic or being mugged or murdered while walking down the street. I have to put in one more year in this awful place, and then I'm out of here the first chance I get.

(Report Problem)I hate the twin cities. This is by the far the worst place that I have ever lived and I can't wait to leave.

(Report Problem)I always enjoy shopping at the Mall of America, the selection of stores is amazing, although we thought we'd found a treasure in "Minnesota Bound" store, just loved the MN stuff then wew went up one floor and found the store "Destination Minnesota" hmmm . . The kiosks count as "stores". Many things were priced high, in my standards. The trick is to go on a weekday, we went on a Friday and had no problems getting anywhere we wanted to go.
