Diamond in the Tundra
Minneapolis is a gem of a city, offering countless parks and lakes right in the city to distract during the day, then the weekend tame of downtown disappears as everyone converges on the city for the huge array of nightlife choices. The theatre district offers shows for those with a low-key idea of fun, the warehouse district offers club after club of dance, lounge, pool, whatever your fancy. Upscale to cheers, 1st Avenue is reminiscent of Bourbon St. at 1 am on the weekends. Restaurant selection far exceeds what one might expect from a landlocked city as well, as does the cultural diversity of the people. Minnesota nice is true, but it doesn't always mean friendly. Out of towners might find it hard to meet people here as unlike other cities locals don't typically approach strangers. Be assertive and you're sure to have a good time.
