We were just in New Orleans last week. We had a terrific time and look forward to going back. You must take a streetcar ride on St. Charles it lets you see so much of the beautiful old homes of the city. Beignets at the Cafe Du Monde are incredible. We stayed at the New Orleans Marriott just a few blocks from Bourbon Street. There are so many little shops and street performers in the French Quarter.

(Report Problem)The city has lost some of it's charm during the last 5 years. I don't know why...So many things changed after 9/11. Even the mood of the people who used to party in Burbon Street. But...it is still in my heart.

(Report Problem)I am particularly impressed with the quality of the street artists in New Orleans. Needless to say, the food is excellent, but sometimes pricey. Beware of the quick cafeteria looking places except for lunch. As far as safety goes, stay where the crouds are. The area near the river is great for daytime cruising or dinner in some cases. Do not take your kids on Bourbon street at night unless you want them to get a quick lesson in the efects of excess alcohol (or a kinky mentality). There are also some great plantations if you are into that sort of thing. If you go inthe summer, prepare to be uncomfortable. If you go around Mardi Gras, prepare to deal with crowds and excessive rowdiness (like I really need to tell you that). If you like the craziness, go the week before Fat Tuesday. It's already over the top without the extreme crowds.

(Report Problem)Atmosphere is very poor in French Quarter. It gets very, very hot in the summer. Commander's Palace restaurant a total deception in quality and service.

(Report Problem)If you have never been to this city, then you have not lived. NOLA is one of the greatest places on earth and there is definately no other place like it. The bars, the quarter, Mardi Gras, the food, BOURBON STREET!!!!!!! NOLA is unique and FUN!!!! Mardi Gras is one of the coolest times of the year and if you have not attended a parade then go!

(Report Problem)I like it mainly because my family is there. So it doesn't really matter what it's like, it's that I'm there with family.

(Report Problem)There is much to see and do in New Orleans. Wether you enjoy good food, great music of various kinds, want to see the swamps, the mansions or the aquarium or just need a break from the cold it is there and in good measure. It is a town that caters to tourists just right with a dash of the international and a pinch of our histroy that isn't from England. All and all it is a great romantic place to visit, party, learn and enjoy your partner.

(Report Problem)Much more to New Orleans than Bourbon St. After my second trip to the Crescent City we were more than happy to share our experiences away from Bourbon St. and everyone who visits New Orleans would be wise to spend some time exploring all the city has to offer. While Bourbon St. is the entertainment center, we found prices a bit on the high side ($7 for a bottle of beer in some locations minimum of two drinks per set with live music) too few choices in music (Rock and Blues seem to really dominate ...where was all the Zydeco and traditional New Orleans Jazz?)But dinner in the French Quarter was a treat, check out Court of the two Sisters, for great food delivered with outstanding, detail oriented service. Pat O'Briens still serves up some great traditional style New Orleans fare (we enjoyed our meal despite being seated in the outdoor courtyard on a chilly 30* night). Aside from the French Quarter area, we discovered a great method of moving around the city was the incredible Street Cars, at $5 for an all day pass we were enthralled with the efficiency of the service, the friendliness of their operators, and ease of moving about the downtown and surrounding areas. Make sure to visit the Audubon Aquarium and Zoo, both made for great excursions. The Zoo's layout is one of the best we had encountered around the country and the aquariums displays were very well designed and extremely well stocked with an exceptional array of both fresh and saltwater species. Take advantage of the Audubon ferry ride between the two for a nice informative cruise up the Mississippi River. The Riverside shopping mall offered a nice rnage of shops, retaurants and some great views of the Cruise Ships and river traffic. Take your time and explore all of New Orleans see all of her sites and hear all of her history. Enjoy
