Overall

I lived in Honolulu for 4 years, from 1996 to 2000, when I was in the military, and absolutely loved it. I will never forget it. To me, it's probably the best tropical place in the world, because other tropical parts of the world are usually too hot and humid. But in Hawaii, the outdoors and indoors mix together like probably no other place in the planet. A true paradise. I was, however, very concerned about what it would be like to live there as a civilian, once I got out of the service. Most jobs don't pay much there, and the cost of living, everything from rent to housing, is very high. So, unfortunately, I left, and am living a fairly comfortable life in Florida.
