(Report Problem)Honolulu is a very beautiful city once you get out of the city. The city can be crowded and its kind of hard to do things. But the beaches are amazing!!! Everyone is so friendly and will help you out if you need it. One place you HAVE TO go is the Polynesian Cultural Center! It is so fun so im not going to tell you to much or i will ruin the surprise. Stay for the luah and the evening show and your kids (and you!) will love it!!!!!!!! Another must is to take a drive to the North Shore. Make sure you stop for shaved ice. Try putting some Japanese (i forgot what they're called)beans (sound gross taste delicious) in your shaved ice. The "locals" here are very nice but dont like to be swamped with touristness (not a real word but thats ok), so dont ask too many questions. Anyway I hope, and know, you'll have a great time. Just make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen!( Sorry the punctuation is not correct, i was way too excited!)

(Report Problem)Honolulu is hip and happening. Upbeat. Great shopping and a famous beach. Lots of places to visit. I definetely recommend renting a car for at lest few days and exploring the island ( it's really easy to get around). They also have great Trolley and Bus systems - affordable and convenient.

(Report Problem)Oahu is by far my favorite island!!! There is so much to do: surf, get ukelele lessons, sleep on the beach (ie. lanikai), see the sunset or sunrise, go shopping, walk Chinatown, and get some exercise!!! It is an amazing place to be, from flying in over all the other islands to taking a leisurely car ride along the windward coast. It is more afforadable than people realize (you can get roundtrip air and hotel from $350 west coast or $650 from Texas!!!) I also recommend renting a car for a day or two to go see the windward coast (Kailua and Lanikai especially) and the North Shore (Haleiwa)!!! I can't wait to make a trip in the winter and see those awesome waves. I loved this island so much I got married here at Sandy Beach! As soon as we get enough money to live comfortably we're moving here as well! Go to the islands and never look back!

(Report Problem)We stayed in Honolulu for 5 nights of our 15-day trip and really had fun. Have a drink at LuLu's by the beach, you will love the view and know you are on vacation! You can walk all over and will find great restaurants at many of the nicer hotels. The Mai Tai sunset cruise is great. We rented Harley Davidsons and saw the entire Island...stay off the expres way and take the scenic route! There is always something going on. Save your Receipts at the ABC stores to get a free gift. Trust Me! you will visit them often! Look for the Spam, Rice and Sea Weed sandwiches by the checkout - Yikes!

(Report Problem)I went to Oahu back in June 2003 and stayed at the Waikiki Circle Hotel where the beach is just right in front of the hotel. The hotel isn't lavish, no fancy decor or anything. But I was gone scuba diving most of the day anyways so it didn't matter. All I cared was a reasonably priced hotel to sleep in, take a shower, and hang out for awhile. I didn't have to rent a car because everything was within proximity -- International Market is a cool place to go to just check some garments, knick-knacks, or some ethnic fast-food to eat. If you walk the Waikiki Beach road, you see stores just like we find in the malls here -- Nike, Billabong, etc. Some high-end stores are also there such as Ferragamo, Coach, Chanel, etc. It's a long but safe road, even at night. It's the main road. Waikiki Beach is great -- relaxing and fun to swim in. You can sign up for surfing lessons right there. However, since it's a famous beach more and more people are gathering in this beach which it gets too crowded. Food is expensive -- Quarter Pounder meal at McDonald's cost $7.00 at that time. We took a tour of the island by mini-bus, which cost $15 per person and it was great -- we stopped at Dole Plantation, several beaches (Sandy, White, etc) and plenty others I can't remember. Weather in June was warm but comfortable. It's better if you just wear shorts, flip-flops, and tank top. Humidity was very tolerable. I have no regrets or complaints about my visit. My advise is: if you want a totally peace, quiet, less/no crowd then Honolulu isn't it. If you don't mind the crowd, then you'll like this place.

(Report Problem)Oahu is great if you took away the homeless, traffic and cheesy little shops. If your going to go to Hawaii then you must get out of the tourist traps. Rent a car and go on your own! You must try a plate lunch at a local hole in the wall. Get off Hotel row and visit the real Hawaii. The Swap Meet is the place to shop! Don't waste your money on the bus it takes forever and stinks. Rent a car, you cannot get lost and if you do it's a short wonderful drive!
