i lived in savannah from 1995 to 1999 while i attended the savannah college of art and design. i loved the feel of the city, it is artistic and full of history. when i lived there, however, it was dangerous in some areas and mostly at night. i haven't been back in a few years, hopefully it has changed. the restaurants are great. the lady and sons in city market has a fabulous lunch buffet. the north beach grille on tybee is great. 321 cafe on habersham st (troupe square) is good for brunch. and toucan cafe on the southside, i believe it's on eisenhour or around there, had the best salmon sandwich. if you like art, the gallery espresso had some excellent student and faculty shows and a good cup of coffee. river street is a big tourist spot, it is cool, but touristy. there is so much to do in savannah and tybee. whatever you do will be fun and unlike any other vacation you could take.
