Beautiful places to see but didn't feel safe downtown. You also need to know these places beforehand in order to see them. Key Bizcane was not mentioned nor Star Island. In Key Bizcane they have live music almost every weekend, you can take a trip to Star Island from here and you can also do lots of shopping or simply come and dine.

(Report Problem)"Far and away the most exciting city in Florida" .... who wrote that tripe? I can think of at least a dozen other places I would rather go than Miami. In fact, every trip I have been on to Miami has been miserable...over-priced and over-rated. Not to mention that safety isn't even in their vocabulary. Almost no one speaks english, even in the retail malls. Couldn't pay me enough to vacation there...

(Report Problem)The city seems to be divided between the rich and the poor, but city life is great! There's tons of things to do, tons of places to eat, and great malls. There's the beaches and of course, the best place to be for city life is Miami Beach. Downtown Miami is getting better, but it's not there yet. Don't visit it now... visit it in a few more years although Bayside Marketplace is a fun place to be (and so is Coconut Grove). For romance, I would suggest Coral Gables (parks, luxury) or Coconut Grove (funky uniqueness) or even upper Miami Beach (tamer version of South Beach and less congested) or go to nearby Fort Lauderdale -- Las Olas is romantic over there (i believe you could take a water taxi to there from South Beach). To hang out in Miami Proper, you'll need to be street smart and have a car. There's cute bakeries in Doral (try Bella Vista), Little Havana (Versailles), South Miami (lots of cafes around here), Miami Beach (try Panna Cafe and other cafes here) that I've visited and they do NOT serve cakes. They serve food at cheap prices and they usually have good cafe con leche (coffee with milk). Fresh orange juice isn't hard to find -- check out a small but famous latin-style marketplace Palacio de los Jugos. You'll have to be daring to go inside that, but once you do and try something, you won't regret it. After doing this, you would love the latin Miami.

(Report Problem)There's nothing to dislike in Miami. It's beautiful and lots of fun. South Beach is were it's happening.

(Report Problem)Miami can be a dream come true if you like Latin American culture. If you are not into it it's a good beach-combing, water-sporting, people-watching vacation spot at best. You can be turned off by obnoxious, ill-bred peple, but enthusiastic about travelling to Cuba without leaving the US.

(Report Problem)I love miami. Atmosphere is friendly, great beaches, and plenty of things to do. Whether you're on the beach, enjoying one of the great restaurants on Lincoln Road or partying in one of the cool miami clubs. There's always something going on in miami....from morning till the next morning. Non-stop.
