Key West is the most relaxing vacation you'll find. Friendly people, amazing weather and interesting things to do during the day and evening hours. I can't say enough about it.

(Report Problem)I've been to Key West 6 times. It is a great overall vacation spot. Financially, it's a bargain compared to all the other caribbean-type vacations. I was able to visit for 1 week while a college student. The atmosphere is great, the people are very friendly and open-minded and all of the Keys exude casual and relaxed. It's a great place for both the party animal vacationer and the family vacationer. I recommend flying into Ft. Lauderdale, renting a convertible and then driving the Overseas Highway down to Key West. I cannot imagine that there is a more scenic drive in the world. You are surrounded by blue, crystal clear water on both sides on 95% of the drive. The 7-mile bridge is my favorite stretch of the drive. During the day, you can visit the beach at Bahia Honda, waverun/parasail/snorkel at one of MANY places or you can walk Duval Street. As the evening approaches, you can catch the spectacular sunset views @ Mallory Square or take a Sunset Cruise. You can't go wrong either way. The real fun starts when the sun goes down. Grab drinks at one of the many famous bars on Duval, or you can go all out and sample drinks from each bar on your Duval Crawl. Don't worry about driving anywhere, many of the hotels are within stumbling distance or cabs are plentiful. This is just me recommendation for a day spent in the Keys. Whatever you choose to do, leave the cell/pager off, leave your worries at home and be ready to enjoy one of the best times of your life. The Florida Keys is a life-long vacation spot for me.

(Report Problem)We've been to Key West twice, with our kids who were in their teens when we were there. We all love it! The first condo we stayed in had a private beach that was steps from our room. The second also had a private beach. Our room was a little further from the beach, but that's because we booked very late. Still, it was only a 3 minute walk. We loved the laid back, relaxed atmosphere. Our kids even loved it, although this is probably not the place for very young kids. They might be bored. We rented a boat and went fishing. We went on a fishing party boat, a submarine ride, a parasail ride, had many great meals, hung out in Key West at night, & watched the sunset. (I have to say that Long Island sunsets are just as good if not better, but the party atmosphere is what makes the difference! Not to mention the difference in temperature during the winter!) We loved it and plan to go back. As a matter of fact, when we retire, we're going to Key West to unwind and plan the rest of our lives. We figure that 3 months there during the winter will relax us and prepare us for the rest of our lives!

(Report Problem)Key West is a great place to go to drink and have a good time. If you are looking for a good beach don't go here. Check out Sarasota for great beaches. Siesta Key is great.

(Report Problem)Haha, number 2 on the list. I don't think so! I was there last January and it's was almost impossible to find a decent beach. I was sent to supposedly the best beach to the public. You had to pay to get in and the sand was gross and the water was ugly. Not as beautiful as it's reputation.

(Report Problem)I had a blast in Key West the two times I visited. However, I would not classify it as a top beach because the beaches in Key West are virtually non-existant, unless you stay at an expensive hotel with a private beach. So, if lying on the beach and soaking up sun is all you want out of a vacation, do not go to Key West. But, if you want to go somewhere with great weather and great fun, do visit.
