(Report Problem)Lived there for 38 years, and don't want to visit
San Jose lacks those amenities that make for a true tourist destination. It is foremost a creation of Silicon Valley, as the high tech industries started further up the peninsula and only moved south to San Jose in the 70's and 80's. While there are thousands of companies providing jobs, mostly high tech, there just isn't much charm for tourists.

(Report Problem)Great place if you are an outdoor person
I stayed in bay area for couple of years and enjoyed staying there a lot. The best thing about San Jose is its location, its just a short drive to beautiful beaches, San Francisco city, Yosemite national park(and other Parks like Big Basin, Big Sur etc). There is plenty of stuff to do out there. Weather is nice round the year except in winters when it rains almost whole day. Cost of living is high....but not as high as NY or Boston. Fun plance to be....

san jose is an awsome city to vist! downtown has a lot of different things to do, and is filled with culture! night life there is a must. there are different types of bars and pubs, most having live music. for fun during the day san jose has lots of things to do, anywhere from dirtbike parks, grant ranch in the foothills to movies and theater...it's a cool place to be with usually good weather year around.

It was expensive to live there. The jobs were excellent, but what you made, you paid out in rent/mortgage and taxes. There was not that much to entertain, other than the known (Winchester Mystery House and Great America). But the good thing was driving over to the beach at Santa Cruz, because the drive was gorgeous-- if you could go when it was not so crowded, like say, when it was raining!

There is absolutely nothing to do in SJ. There is hardly anyone on the streets. I did not feel safe walking around the city at night.
