I fell in love with San Francisco

five stars

Out of the places we were visiting (San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas) I was least excited about going to San Francisco, i thought it was going to be boring. When we actually got there my opinion completely changed, absolutly brilliant, my husband and i loved every minute of being there and will definately go back and spend a lot longer next time.

Good in most parts....and fun

four stars

San Francisco is not the most beautiful city in the world in spite of what some say but, like Vancouver, the setting is fine. Fisherman's Wharf gets a bad review in some places, but it is lively and fun, nice buildings, and the WWII submarine and Liberty Ship are very well worth seeing. I don't think that British submarines had a help-yourself ice cream machine in WWII. We also had a very decent and reasonably priced meal on the Wharf. The sea lions are also a free must-see. Jack's Bar, beside the old Del Monte cannery, is a place for the pub lover and beer drinker - if not on hand pump, at least spoilt for choice and good atmosphere. We were lucky to hit Fleet Week and get the free airshow. In all, very good fun, people helpful and pleasant.

Most Beautiful City in the World!

five stars

Not only by going to San Francisco will you see one of the most down-to-earth yet cosmopolitain cities in the world, but you can stand on the Golden Gate Bridge and see a part of history. Look across the most beautiful ocean in the world-- an ocean that links East and West in a city that is part old and new. San Francisco is one of THE greatest cities on earth.

Once is enough.

three stars

San Francisco is a well worth a visit. The people, in general, are friendly. The scenery is great, Golden Gate park is very relaxing with something to suit to most tastes. However, the main tourist area, Fishermans Wharf, is over run with shops selling poor quality clothing and tatty souvenirs. Don't get me wrong, nobody forces you to go and buy anything, not once did I feel pressured but... it's novelty wears off quite quickly! Little Italy is a GREAT place to eat, as is China town. Union square and the surrounding area was fun to shop around. My only word of caution would be on Camera equipment. I shopped around a number of shops that claimed to be offering good deals on accessories. All were offering the same kinds of prices/discounts. I bit, and got reeled in! 400 USD later and I've got myself 150 USDs worth of kit!!! You have been warned.
