San Francisco is a well worth a visit. The people, in general, are friendly. The scenery is great, Golden Gate park is very relaxing with something to suit to most tastes. However, the main tourist area, Fishermans Wharf, is over run with shops selling poor quality clothing and tatty souvenirs. Don't get me wrong, nobody forces you to go and buy anything, not once did I feel pressured but... it's novelty wears off quite quickly! Little Italy is a GREAT place to eat, as is China town. Union square and the surrounding area was fun to shop around. My only word of caution would be on Camera equipment. I shopped around a number of shops that claimed to be offering good deals on accessories. All were offering the same kinds of prices/discounts. I bit, and got reeled in! 400 USD later and I've got myself 150 USDs worth of kit!!! You have been warned.
