Overall

five stars

Simply, there is not another event I would rather go to, 5 stars isn't enough. There are so many wonderful things going on at the same time you almost feel like you want to be in multiplaces at the same time. I love the blues but I can't see all the bands I to because more than anything I'd rather zydeco dance. Tipntina's, the rockinbowl, the spirt of bo joc, they are all in San Diego for two days in May. Mothers day weekend to be exact. Then there is the food and if your dancing you can't eat easily. I have sat down in front of 33lbs of crawfish and never became full. I think you burn the same number of calories eating a crawfish as gain by eatting the meat. Then there is the corn and potatoes and trytip and othe foods so that you can't even taste everything you want too. At the same time your eating you can multitask and have the kids face painted while a parade goes by and your watching a cajun cooking class but your missing the dancing, shopping in the vendors booths for items from boots to zydeco t shirts or one of the many other treasures you will find in the vendors area. It is only $10 to get in which is less than $1 a band, and if you can't afford you can volunteer and they will feed you. The best about volunteering is meeting the people that run the event. There are many and they are all the best friends. They dance together and come new years you can be sure they will be at Peter's or in Balboa park dancing together. If you live in San Diego or anywhere for that matter Do NOT miss this event. Gator by the Bay is San Diego at its finest. It's a Mardi Gras that you can feel safe taking you kids too. I suggest you stay at the Sheraton and take advantage of the special room rates. The Sheraton pool is worth the trip alone. Did I mention how there is a friendly family spirts that grips you the moment you arrive and the good feeling last for days. Gator by the Bay grows ever year you should go before it get crowded. Do me a favor If you never have been go to www.gatorbythebay.com and check out the pictures and videos. If you have been there before and love the event as much as I do tell are your friends, I think my friends would like your friends and I wouldn't want any of them to miss Gator. If you want to volunter go to the web site. If you want to print and post a flyer go to the web site. Oh and since its in San Diego you can scuba in LaJolla Cove, Go to the beach in front of the Hotel Del where Mayrillyn Monroe used to go. You can Hike in the Torry Pines. See the Night Life at the night time dances or visit the gas lamp. You could even go camping in the desert or the moutains or any of the many camp grounds the area offers. You also should visit historic old town or catch a play, triple express is good if you can find tickets. Most of all bring your family and friends. It doesn't have to be that expensive if you shop around. www.gatorbythebay.com
