Almost the ultimate visitor destination

five stars

This is such a great city to visit, we have visited at least 5-6 times as our kids have grown from young to HS/college age. There is so much to do, you will never run out of activities. The only challenge is to pace yourself and take some time off because you will want to "see it all." Plan a return trip. To name a few, there is the ocean (sailing/fishing), the beaches, San Diego Zoon, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, museums at Balboa Park (where to start, or stop?? Aerospace Museum, Fleet Science Museum incl. IMax, Natural History Museum, Museum of Man, Museum of Photographic Arts, etc.), Old Town and its restaurants. Also out of town is Legoland California -- really fun.

Don't overlook this city when going to California

five stars

I loved San Diego! Last summer I visited both Los Angeles and San Diego for the first time. I liked Los Angeles too, but San Diego was really cool, because it seems like much more of a livable city. It isn't as disconnected as LA, and has a real urban feel, and nice concentration of establishments downtown. We stayed on Coronado Island- a beautiful resort place with nice hotels, restaurants, and shops. I highly recommend visiting there, but wouldn't recommend staying there, because there are so many fun places downtown. The Gas Lamp Quarter has a variety of trendy cafes, bars, restaurants, and cigar shops! Little Italy was also a lot of fun. We saw some really good local music there, and the zoo is famous, so be sure to go there too. The whole time I kept thinking about how LA was like the Californian NYC, San Francisco is the Californian Chicago, and San Diego is like the Californian Cleveland! I almost didn’t go to San Diego when I was in California, but I’m glad I did.

Pleasure

five stars

Very clean, cozy and friendly. Should rent a car - it will allow more freedom, as a lot of good places are either hard or expensive to reach. Temecula Valley Wine County is one of the wonderful places to visit. Zoo is a MUST.

Paradise

four stars

I was born and raised in San Diego. I moved to Las Vegas,NV four years ago. Why move from paradise? Money. We came to the conclusion that our middle class income would not afford us to ever own a home in SD. Also, there is no state tax in NV. That having been said, I yearn to be back. I miss nearly everything about San Diego. I'm visiting again this weekend. As a former local I'm avoiding Sea World and the Zoo in favor of lesser known and less expensive spots. Places to see: Balboa Park- The museums are as beautiful as the art inside them. And it has a stunning variety of plants and flowers from all around the world. Prosido Hill- Beautiful view from the mission. Overlooking valley with views of downtown,Sea World, and Ocean.Lots of grassy areas to picnic. Seaport Village-fun old fashion harbor boardwalk with lots of shopping and great views of harbor and impressive military ships. Old Town-Great food! Lots of historical sites. Atmosphere is festive. Silver Strand Beach National Park- clean and beautiful! One of the few places left in SoCal to find whole sand dollars. La Jolla Cove/La Jolla Shores- Beautiful beach with stunning cliffs, tide pools, and park. Cove is a great inlet with cliff tunnels and beautiful marine life. Great for snorkling. Mission Beach Boardwalk- Classic beach boardwalk! Roller coaster, arcade, resturaunts, and surf shops in Belmont Park. Rentals on bikes, surfboards, blades, and anything else that can be rode upon. Vacation rentals line the boardwalk. Great place for July 4th! Santee Lakes- In east county. Peaceful place to enjoy the sun and wildlife. Paddle boats for rent. Delmar- Beautiful area. Delmar fair in the summer is fabulous! Held at the Delmar racetrack.Midway, rides, livestock competition, exhibitions, and concerts.(passed concerts attended: Smashing Pumpkins and Smithereens). Horse racing season is a blast at the track! Miramar base- Remember Top Gun? This is the place. Airshow is great! Hillcrest- Stylish, friendly, unique neighborhood of theaters, vintage shops, and cafes. On the edge of Balboa Park. Mt. Solodad- Aw inspiring view from high mountain top. Look down upon the coast as well as La Jolla. Beautiful spot for sunset. Carlsbad flower fields- Great place to go in the spring! row upon row of the most beautiful flowers. A sight to behold. I could go on and on. But see for yourself. You won't regret it. Check out sandiego360.com for virtual tours throughout San Diego. Cool site.

Very good to have a vacation.

five stars

San Diego, California is good attitude, fun things to see, do, good dancing in Pacific Beach and in Gaslamp and many beaches to get some sun, learn to surf. Plus, beutiful woman everywhere! The last thing that it must improve is the traffic is slow and the bar close at only 2:00am, so you must keep some liquor in the hotel for at night. Mostly, I will say it is a good place to go and if I can I will go again.

Already booked back!

five stars

The wether is always amazing, there is as much or as little to do as you would like, and you are at a great location to easily go to Mexico or up to LA. The only problem is traffic...just watch what time you leave!!
