I was only able to stay one 1/2 days, but I had a very enjoyable time. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and everybody seemed very friendly.

I like to camp out at the campsites around the lake. If you are going to come up here try to come in the off seasons, just because it can get very crowded. Between December-June you want to go during the week. And if you come during summer time, try to go around Tuesday and leave by Friday, that's when it's not it's to crowded.

THE HOTELS WERE CUTE & CHEAP, SOME VERY ROMANTIC, THE SCENERY IS GORGEOUS, GREAT SHOPPING & EATERIES. WE WEREN'T BORED FOR THE ENTIRE TRIP. OH, AND LOTS OF CASINOS ON THE STATE LINE! WHO COULD ASK FOR MORE?

(Report Problem)Beautiful scenery, Adventure sports galore!!
One of the most scenic mountain destinations in the U.S. 1 hour from Reno, 2 hours from Sacramento, and 3.5 from San Francisco. There are 6 major (Big Mountain) ski resorts within 30 minutes of the lake, and both winter and summer sports are amazing. Not as posh as Park City or Aspen, but much cheaper. For casinos try the South shore, but for a quieter cabin experience with smaller weekend crowds, you can't beat the North shore.
