I wouldn't reccomend it at all. I lived there for three years and am now in St. Louis (which I like). There is not much to do, despite what others say, the scenery is overrated, it is either sooooo hot or soooooo cold. The worst parts are the high crime rates, the drunk drivers, and the overall INCREDIBLY SNOTTY PEOPLE!!

(Report Problem)Because the weather is so good here 9 months out of the year, everybody is outside, including the criminals. I don't think that there is any more or less crime here per capita, but the degree of violence is stepped up due to gang activity and prevalence of gun ownership, legal or otherwise. Whereas in one city there may be a brawl, people here just pull a piece and ask questions later. If they don't, someone else will! Needless to say, people here are much friendlier overall, because you never know who's packin'! Like it or not, that's the way it is. If you can deal with the shift in thinking and acting, Phoenix is great. But, if you like to run your mouth and get into fights, stay in your boring little town - you may be saving your own life!

(Report Problem)My Wife & I moved here 2.5 years ago from Charlotte, NC planning to make our permananet home here. While the desert scenery and weather are nice, we can't wait to move back to Charlotte! Phoenix has become a wasteland of suburban sprawl. Phoenix consists of: Millions of cookie-cutter stucco houses that all look virtually identical; Franchise stores in strip-malls everywhere; (where's the originality??) The most brutal traffic I have ever known- Bumper to bumper in every direction; Angry, agressive, impatient, selfish drivers; Grueling commutes- We both commute over 1 hour one-way; More illegal immigrants than anywhere I've known; Saleries below national average, cost of living above national average; Bleak job market- good luck finding your "dream job" here, it's not going to happen! People, people, people, and more people! Population is growing way too fast for roads to keep up. One of the highest ratios of car theft in America. We've been hit twice in 2.5 years Overrun by snowbirds in the Winter, and conservative retirees the rest of the year. The one good thing is the great real estate market. New homes are still affordable, and values increase tremendously, quickly. A lot of people seem to like it here, but it's not for us!!!

(Report Problem)I was only there for three days, but I thought that the people were wonderful. We stayed in the Hyatt, and that was fabulous. I wish we could have seen more of the surrounding area. Bank One Ballpark was pretty nice, too.

(Report Problem)Phoenix is a gorgeous city. It's diverse, has great restaurants, a nice local art scene, and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. I'm originally from Georgia but i go to school at Arizona State now and would much rather call Phoenix my home than Savannah. Having mountains all around was definitely not something i was used to but i love it. There is also great shopping and golf all around the phoenix area. It's an awesome place to be and fortunately i'm used to the hot summers but enjoy them much better with out the humidity that i had in the south east.

(Report Problem)What a pointless hellhole. Only visited once -- that's all it took.

(Report Problem)I have lived in several different cities and Phoenix is the best. The city is designed very well,it is easy to get around, and there is so much to do. You can drive an hour in any direction and have completely different scenery. It is in a good location, with perfect weather, and it is very entertaining.

(Report Problem)Cons: There must be 75 billion stucco and tile roof homes and they all pretty much look alike. You'de think that since there is over 200 golf courses here, you could find a decent one to play for under a hondo. If the real estate and snowbird industries dry up here, this city is toast, they've got little else. The metro area is basically being "managed" by a group of 40 or so highly effluent, self grandizing, self-serving and back-scratching conservative hacks. Shariff Joe, need I say more? The gestapo will raid and close down a strip joint if more than a top comes off but supports a law of allowing concealed weapons to be carried into bars. Have to ride a bus to work? I'm sure your boss will understand why you're 2 1/2 days late to work. If it's franchises you like, you'll love it here! But if you seek individuality, diversity, flair, pizazze... you better try somewhere else.
