Avoid it period, it's dirty and corrupt the people just want to take advantage of Americans that's why the majority of the people down there try to get to the U.S. and of course once they've been living in the U.S. for a while they talk about how great it was living in Tijuana;to the previous poster please go back if you love it so much. How do I know this I grew up in San Diego and have cousins on my mothers side that live in Tijuana. My last visit was in 1999 and do not believe it's gotten any better, It reminds me of Iraq minus the IEDs and the Iraqis are much more polite.

(Report Problem)I visited Tijuana when I was staying in LA. I wanted to visit so I could say I've been to Mexico. We crossed the border through large iron gates to be confronted by a run down square with a few shops. We wanted to get to the main shopping area but were faced with dead ends. A taxi driver chased us downt eh road and said we had to take a cab. We reluctantly agreed and headed off to the centre. We paid the taxi man $2 over his price of $10. It was pretty mad on the main street with every shop owner trying to get us to come in there shop. I eventually bought a bottle of Tequila in one store and then got the first taxi back to the border. I was glad to get back again but at least I got my Tequila from Mexico.
Last Visit: November 2005

(Report Problem)mexico is a dirty place. trash and garbage everywhere. safety is poor. mexicans swarm all over you when they see a white american there in there country. beggars on the street. they have gross donkey shows for dollars to watch the women and men making out with a donkey. nasty minded people. this country is full of all theives. it is so much differance once you walk across good ole texas onto there dirty soil. no wonder why they all are sneaking over here on usa land. people needs to wake up before too late. they all are users. they are trying to take control of usa. what is america going to be mexican american? there are so many them in the usa illegal using fake social security cards and work permits. a big mexico lawyer in chicago handing out these fake documents to guarantee for them to work taking up jobs from the american people and legal immigrants. you call that far? mexicans were so proud what happened in new york on sept 11, for our government to take there focus off of them. there are so many them have crossed our borders and heading north clear up to michigan and indiana! what a shame! it makes us wonder why the ins department not looking into tracing there social security numbers and alien regristration numbers from all the employers. if they done this they can not work and will have no choice but to return to there own country.

(Report Problem)I have lived in SD Co. my whole life & I love TJ, Mexico period is great. You can get a great deal & yummy authentic food. Just watch your surroundings & don't get to drunk. Mexico means crazy. Crazy driving by the cabbies, crazy nightclubs, where anything could happen, crazy American people too. My motto in TJ is buckasswild! With Caution (of course)

(Report Problem)Having lived off of Tocayo Ave in SD for 3 years, I have been to TJ a few times. During the day is nice, but at nite can be fun if you are aware of your surroundings. 10.00 will get you into a bar and pay for your drinks (watered down as they may be) all nite, until you stagger back to the border to be harrassed by Mexican Police, Border Patrol and then San Diego PD. My advice: Stay in San Diego, Take I-5 North to 5th & 6th st and party your heart out in the gas lamp. Much better time, although you will spend more money. Best spots: Moose Migilicutties, Hard rock, Patrick's Pub, and Dick's Last resort.

(Report Problem)if you like to party down then TJ is the place just make sur you have one smart sober, spanish friendly friend with you. watch out for the hookers. they use great condoms but they'll still give you warts or crabs. or if your lucky both. but then again most people in the US have that anyway so go nuts!!!
