AWESOME PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!

five stars

I have been here every year for the past five years. PV is the kind of place you want to return to over and over again. If there is one con, it's the fact that the water isn't as blue or as warm as it is in Cancun. Snorkeling and scuba diving are definitely better in Cancun, but I'll sacrifice that for an authentic Mexican experience. Cancun and Cabo are very Americanized, and while PV has all the amenities tourists want, it has retained its original charm. Olas Atlas, or the "Romantic Zone," bustles with activity. The clubs are cool, but don't start getting busy until at least 12 to 1 am. Did you know PV is the #1 gay/lesbian beach resort in the world? Everyone is very friendly. If you do go, just remember to respect the locals and try to not give anyone any more reason to think that Americans are spoiled, lazy, and not willing to learn about other cultures. The beaches south of town are the best!

None Better Than Puerto Vallarta

five stars

My wife and I needed to get warm this winter, so we looked on the internet and saw that Puerto Vallarta had the perfect climate - 80-degree weather and no rain in January! We stayed at two separate hotels during our week there - one in the Marina and the other near downtown. Both were terrific. It's nice to stay close to town, but the bus system is easy and cheap (60 cent fare) and you can take a taxi most anywhere for $5-6 at most. What we enjoyed most was how "easy" P-V is to get around in, to shop and just blend in as part of the local population. We'd recommend P-V far above Cancun. Cancun is a "tourist town" while Puerto Vallarta is a "safe" Mexican village in which tourists happen to mix in and have fun with the locals, who live and work there, too. The restaurants are numerous and fabulous. "Trio" had the best food we've ever eaten anywhere. The "Vista Grille" has a romantic, fabulous view over the town and bay, along with great food.

Puerto Vallarta

four stars

Very fun and relaxing trip. Great atmosphere and not as commercialized as Cancun or Cabo. You really get to see Mexico here, but in a nice, fun and clean environment!

PROS!

five stars

The pros far outweigh the cons here. I recommend a day and a half to two days to see PV. Go to the Isla Cuale, it is an eden of green, peace and quiet in the middle of PV. Basilio Badillio is excellent for shopping!! So are the Isla markets and shops and the Malecon and the 2 streets North of it! Cabbies are marvellous especially if you speak a little spanish to them!

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and areas north and south.

five stars

Hello~ I got back and have been organizing while there and now at home a Blog of my experiences. I just finished the 3 week, 2 day trip of 10/19-11/11. It is long so seems too much to post here. Check this out and see if you can read it. I am afraid it lists the last entries first, so you need to look at the right column and click for the earliest up to now. To start you need to go to October archives and then complete with November. Please advise if a problem. http://garypuertovallarta.blogspot.com garyrbeck San Francisco, CA. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Puerto_Vallarta_OldTown_SouthSide http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Puerto_Vallarta_Gay_Travel http://hometown.aol.com/garyrbeck/myhomepage/ I composed a free restaurant guide by email, newly updated, no attachments, no virus therefore, so write me for copy! garyrbeck1@yahoo.com

Loved Puerto Vallarta!

five stars

I had a wonderful time in "PV" while visiting for New Year's Eve celebrations in the year 2000. I recommend staying in town or to the south of town for an authentic in-country experience ... if you stay in the chain hotels to the north of town you may as well be anywhere, without any sense of place. The locals are exceptionally friendly and the town has a beautiful backdrop, long history, and every kind of service to interest the traveller.
