I lived in mexico for a year and loved every minute of it. Things are much cheaper than England from food stuffs to fashion. I was impressed by the number of familiar shops such as zara, berksha, Tiffanys etc. The people are lovely although they will stare if you are of a slighty darker complexion!! Nevertheless the shouts of 'morena morena' (brown girl, brown girl) are used with genuine affection and pleasantness. Mexico City has an extensive bus and metro network which will take you around the city for next to nothing. Great for arts and culture with fabulous history. Why did i come back????

(Report Problem)Going to Mexico City around Christmas and the Dia de los Tres Reyes (Day of the Three Kings) is amazing! The experience was almost surreal! I remember walking by blocks of "three kings" stands at night, each stand playing a different musical tune, and cotton candy was blowing in the air for all to catch. Surrounded by the city lights, music, and three kings, it was just icing on the cake to be able to reach up in the air and grab cotton candy, or watch it float up against the city lights. Also, seeing the original Aztec calendar at the Museum of Anthropology was excellent! The Plaza de las Tres Culturas was fascinating as well!

(Report Problem)well i think that mexico city is a beautiful country, but the system, goverment and the safety of the people there is terrible. its a shame that mexico has alot of beautiful sites and beaches, but you have to walk around watching your back. its a shame of all this that is going on in this country. too much poverty and no employment, children out in the streets working for maybe .25 a day. i wish that there would be more help for people there and it could be a better place to travel. as long as there its not safe in mexico, i guess people will stop traveling and there will be less sales and less touring....thank you...

(Report Problem)the good thing about mexico is the price is cheap on alot of goods. what i do not like about mexico is the enviroment is dirty, thefts, drugs. when crossing the border make sure you women hang on to your purse. ones will come and pull on your purse begging for money. for men to make sure you watch your wallet closely. do not drink there water. there water is not safe to drink. be careful when driving your own auto and not stop for anyone on road stops unless it is the police. safety here is poor.

(Report Problem)It is my second home. It is best to have a qualified driver if it is your first time. Good drivers and guides are always available at your hotel.

(Report Problem)Mexico City is great for a vacation as long as a beach is not important. The world-class Anthropological Museum is worth a day's visit. Other museums not to miss: the eclectic Franz Mayer, the National Palace with its large Diego Rivera mural, the Museum of Diego Rivera (which also includes some Frida Kahlo paintings), the Templo Mayor and Museum with its Aztec treasures, the local favorite Museum of Mexico City. Learn about the culture at the Palace of Fine Arts, with its great programs, Cuilcuilco Pyramid near the University, even the somewhat touristy Plaza Garibaldi for mariachis. You can eat at a high-end restaurant (L'Albufera in the Gran Melia Reforma Hotel), an historic building where locals flock as well as tourists, Cafe de Tacuba; you can have excellent Argentinian at Estancia del Gaucho near the Revolution monument. Day trips to Puebla and Cholula, Xochimilco for the floating gardens and boat ride and Teotiuachan for the Pyramids. Mexico City has something for everyone.
