I loved Cancun because I got married at Luis Miguel"s house and there was the best service,people,food and the Maroma Resort was exquiste. I recommend it to all that want peace & luxury!!!

(Report Problem)Enjoy the sun, but mind your wallet, and beware the fish.
Coming from Illinois in January, one instantly appreciates the beautiful weather. The beach was scenic but the waves were very rough for swimming except for one day. On that nice day, I was able to do some snorkling and got to see a small barricuda going after a school of fish! The tourist locations were all overpriced, and I've had more authentic Mexican food here in Illinois. Better drinks too. I never would have thought Mexico skimped on the booze. Two margaritas won't give a regular sized dude a buzz...for shame! Expect the time share sharks at every turn. My favorite approach is the one where they walk up to your table at a restaurant like they're the manager. "How was everything?" "Wonderful." "Well, if you enjoyed that, then how about looking at this information?" The guy didn't even have a brochure, instead handing me a tour magazine open to the time share ad. One has to be on guard whenever handling money. The locals have it down to an art not to give you back correct change (short, of course). I'm too mellow to constantly challenge someone over 3 or 5 pesos. And these are not in tipping scenarios, either. Since when do you tip a bus driver? I'd take the bus 4 or 5 times a day. The other situation is when you pay for something in US dollars, and they give you pesos back. Fair, but they give you pesos back in the equal amount they should in dollars. Again, I'm too mild mannered and even lazy to argue each and every time. But, I know it adds up and therefore I'm not happy about the whole trip. Xel-ha was a good time, except when my wife got bit on the leg by some fish. Xel-ha is a large snorkling attraction, all natural and very beautiful. But, my wife still has the bite to show off. The bite is only an inch in diameter, but it still frightened her badly. It nipped her twice before it clamped down. She didn't see the fish. I suspect it was a parrot fish. They have a beak-like mouth and an attitude. They're all like, "Hey tourist, back off, or you get these!" And they point to the beak.

spent holiday @ tucancun beach resort in july of 2002 and havent stopped thinking about mexico since then. a dozen or so of our 30-something friends had a wonderful 3 days and always talk of going back to the same hotel.

needs to be torn down and redone..height of 70's development.ocean was cold 4 carribean along with strong currents and rocky shores.cancun employees treat you like fresh meat..expensive by New York, LA standards (food.hotel.activities)i just dont get it.why do people come here.theres better beaches , diving , shopping, values . service and just about everything somewhere else

Cancun is a fun place to go. Safe and in most people are nice. Royal Solaris should have shut down for construction. I was disappointed with them this time. It's best to buy tours from a well known agency. Grey Line was great. But booths at the mall are not trustworthy. WE were told about a 3 hr snorkling tour and it was an hour. I heard Aquaworld is the best.
