Won't return

two stars

I saw Banff forty years ago, before the hordes of tourists elbowing me out of the way and when the local tribes came in for Indian day. Now even the animals are fleeing the tourist buses and the dug-up downtown and the shops full of stuff made in China. It's now a rip off.

Banff skiing - just great

four stars

Had a brilliant 10 days' skiing holiday, staying in Banff. Using a three-area ski pass, we visited Lake Louise, Sunshine Village and Mount Norquay. Mount Norquay is fairly limited compared to the other two, but still a good place to spend a day. Skiing at Lake Louise and Sunshine was a real treat. An enourmous variety of runs, good snow and fabulous Rocky Mountains scenery. The resorts were very busy at weekends when people arrive in droves from Calgary, but still we never had to queue at lifts for long. Definitely a top destination.

Great for: Skiing/Snowboarding

The Bus Driver's Point of View

four stars

I was the driver for a summertime teen tour and was the only Black man in town and I was as big an attraction as any of the stores, I am not saying this as a bad thing because I was treated with respect and courtesy. The store owners were great. At dusk the elk come into town to graze and it's great for a photo-op.

Awesome Banff & Jasper!

five stars

Banff National Park is a world heritage site and the most scenic alpine location in the western hemisphere. Forget the American rockies, these northern rockies are awesome in comparison. These are rugged, sky-high, snow-capped mountains of sheer granite enveloping turqoise lakes and abundant wildlife (elk, mountain goats, wolves, marmots, and things you won't see unless you venture off the beaten path like cougars and bears). If you can, be sure to take the day-long drive along the spectacular Icefields Parkway up to the Jasper town site and then stay there overnight or (better) longer. You'll want your camera and lots of film or digital memory. There are too many worthwhile nature spots along the way and in Banff Park worth to list here. The Banff townsite is tourist central, busy in summer, but usually lively with a huge range of accommodations and dining choices from world-class down to hostel. The town draws many visitors from around the world (especially Europe and Japan) and is fun to stroll and explore in its own right. It's an internationally-famous destination. But the best attraction here is all the unsurpassed surrounding natural beauty. It will humble you and be unforgettable!

Going back for the third time...

five stars

Having travelled all over the rocky terrain in the U.S. I have to conclude that the scenery in Banff National Park is on the top of my list. Do all the tours available around the park, visit Lake Louise, Emerald Lake, Moraine Lake and Spirit Island, as well as neighboring Yoho National Park. The town of Banff is small and quaint, but adorable with plenty of good restaurants to choose from. Most the bars downtown play live music and the atmosphere buzzes during the summer and winter months. Don't forget to visit Tommy's for a late night burger on the outside grill - they are the best!

Banff

five stars

Its really a good place to relax in, it gives you a feeling like you are staying in the alps of swiss... restaurants, grill bars are opened til the wee hours. Nice little village with lots of shops and things to look at. Its a good getaway with beautiful sceneries such as falls and mountains... Most beautiful thing is while travelling to Lake lousie you will see lots of friendly animals in the national park walking around, really cute!

Spectacular Mountain Town

five stars

Banfff is a wonderful mountain village with so much to offer. The views are positively breathtaking, the skiing is phenominal and the town is gorgeous. We had a great breakfast at Melissa's and although there was a line-up, it was worth the wait. We took are whole family and had a great time. There was lots to do even if we didn't feel like skiing. A must-see for any traveller.

Great experience

five stars

Downtwon Banff is picture perfect. Many shopping and resturants available. One resturante in particular is a must try. The Wolf Street Cafe was the best food we had all week. Banff was also well located for the local Ski resorts, especially Sunshine Valley, which had the best snow while we were there.
