London is the most fantastic city but it does not give visitors an accurate experience of traditional life in England. If you want to pay a traditional visit to London, forget trying to find this in the west end or around the main tourist attractions! Head instead for the riverside pubs of Wapping and Limehouse for some real history and traditional ale houses. Visit a pie and mash shop in Greenwich for traditional East end food, eels are optional! And if you want a roast dinner don't expect to find a good one in the west end! Visit the East end markets and note the street names and the old buildings in Spitalfields, walk through the city of London in the finance district and find quality shops down little lanes. London is not cheap, but don't pay the inflated prices for food that the French would never put up with! Check out online guides where eateries are graded by the clients. There are many treasures all over London, many of the best just a little away from the centre : greenwich park, blackheath, dulwich, the riverside. Enjoy!
