deffo go back!!

five stars

We stayed just outside of Edinburgh in a place called Peebles. What a fantastic recpetion we had nothing was to much trouble. The most important thing is the kids loved it up there, there is so much to do and see, the castle, holyrood house, the royal mile. We took the kids on the tour of the city and that gave us so much information and the history of the city. We liked it so much we have been going for the last 6 years and going again in august.

Was great

five stars

Edinburgh is one of the most charming towns I've ever seen... Relax in the parks if the weather is good and enjoy the museems during the rainy days. If there is some time left book a ticket for the Tatoo or a play. Impossible to get bored there! (Don't forget the pubs...)

Love at first sight!

five stars

I instantly fell in love. Whats not to like?! You feel like you have gone back in time while walking through the streets of Edinburgh. Edinburgh IS history and culture first and foremost. Easy to get around both the New and the Old town. Beautiful scenery. I was blown away by how clean the city was and the warmth and friendliness from the locals. And coming from an expensive country the low prices on food and drinks were god-sent;-). Great place for shopoholics (like myself), a wide selection of stores, from well known H&M to the cutest little shops. For shoe addicts the store Schuh is highly recommended. Otherwise i recommend The Dome for eating out, located in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town, excellent food. For a great night out, visit Le Monde - the latest style bar and nightclub venue to open on Edinburgh’s George Street. Oh and by the way: for the first time ever visiting a new city - i have nothing but great things to say about this one;-).

Best city in the world!

five stars

I fell in love with Edinburgh before I'd even got off the bus from London. My three-day stay turned into nearly a year-long one. The people are really friendly, the history and the architecture is amazing, and the nightlife fabulous. I wish I could give it way more than five stars! I lived in a hostel and made so many friends that I'm still in touch with nearly five years on. I stayed for Christmas and I even loved the winter and the snow - the city was too amazing for me to be homesick. It really got under my skin and I cried so much when I finally left. To me it's the best city in the world and I still have days when I'd give anything to be back there.

Stunning

five stars

We went up to Edinburgh for a week earlier this summer, overlapping with the start of the fringe. Even though I live in Oxford, one of the most beautiful cities in England, we was blown away by the overall quality of the architecture. We were blessed with fantastic weather, and made the most of it by walking practically everywhere. The fringe added a real buzz to the whole place, and with Glasgow only a short distance away by train there's more culture around than you can shake a stick at. The people were, on the whole, friendly, and if you don't mind a slight over-doing of the whole "we're Scottish; we hate the English" thing (slightly wearing after a while - I'm English but have nothing against the Scots...). Do go, and if you can, allow more than just a week. There's plenty to keep you busy. And set aside a day for the walk down the Royal Mile to Holyrood, climbing Arthur's seat before wending your way back to the centre of town. Maybe stop off in the The Sheep's Heid Inn (Scotland's oldest pub) for a coffee (or something more potent) on the way.
