Stunning

five stars

I felt an an unbelievable sense of power in this city. I can't describe it properly. Its as if it is a sleeping giant that is one day going to be a major city. It is beautiful and you can see history everywhere. Stunning.

You will fall in love with this city and its people

five stars

Istanbul, the only city on both Europe and Asia, is beautiful and historical. Must sees to get an insight into the culture: Aya Sofia, Sulemanye Mosque, Sultanahmet Square (including the Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome), the Underground Cistern, Topkapi Palace...all within eyesight of each other! The people are friendly and eager to please; even when they aggressively try to sell you something, it is mostly good-natured; however, brush up on your bargaining skills. The food is outstanding; kebabs, Turkish meatballs (lamb and beef), fresh fish from the Bosphorus. Be sure to eat in one of the restaurants on the water in the Orkatoy area (I liked Marina Balik) for some of the freshest fish (bass is great) in the world. Nightlife is good from the small cafes to the larger clubs; catch a belly dance even though it can be touristy; it's still fun. Istanbul is one of the finest cities in Europe.

loved it!

five stars

Turkey was such a fascinating country. It was foreign enough to be exotic, but Western enough to be comfortable and navigatable. The people were very friendly and I certainly will never forget my 2 weeks there.

An exciting city

four stars

I like Istanbul probably because I live here. After awhile it gets boring but other than that for a vacation it is very nice and exciting. There is a lot of history here and a wonderful nightlife full of clubs. The bosphorus is amazing especially during the summer.

I live in Istanbul for years. It has tremendous historical places that you should see. Taksim Square means excessive number of bars&etc. Ortaköy,bebek, emirgan, yeniköy are coastlines. The Hagia Sophia(in Turkish=Ayasofya),Topkapı Palace,SULTAN AHMET SQUARE,THE BASILICA CISTERN,THE TILED PAVILION,THE EGYPTIAN OBELISK ,THE MUSEUM OF TURKISH AND ISLAMIC ARTS are historical places.
