I'd love to go back!

five stars

I loved Madrid mainly because it's a lively city. There is a lot to do all day, visiting the Parks are great during the day and the nightlife is probably the best in Europe! It's a must go place!

Great for: History/Culture, Nightlife, Family Holidays

Last Visit: May 2004

I love it.

people in madrid are wonderful and you can feel you are part of the city. You don't feel strange. Madrid sky is the bluest in the world, and the night is the funniest.

24/7 Whirlwind; great times

five stars

Madrid has a lot going for it. The culture in the form of museums, such as the Prado, the Royal Palace, the parks, especially Retiro, the Plaza Mayor will keep you hopping. The food is wonderful; be sure to try paella. The Rioja wines and the Jerez brandies are world-class. Even though tourists go, the Casa Botin off of the Plaza Major is great for roast suckling pig. The people are friendly and helpful. Madrid comes to life at night. Flamenco shows abound; one of the best and least touristy is Corral de Moreira (you can have a good dinner here, too). At Arco de Cuchilleros (two doors down from Casa Botin), the flamenco is great but no dinner. Dinner doesn't begin much before 10 pm and the clubs are open until dawn every night of the week. Consider day trips to Avila, Segovia, Toledo, the Valley of the Fallen and the Escorial. Just so much to do!

Love it

five stars

I loved Madrid so much, i'm moving there in 6 months! I loved the people, the environment, and the shopping of course. I'm going to be going to school there to get a degree as a PA. I speak spanish fluently, so it will be perfect for me. I suggest everyone take a trip to Spain, it's worth it.

Travel alone but with a village watching

one star

Some of the hotels were old like my home and the rooms would get drafty for no reason, and you could hear people even though you couldn't see them outside your doors and windows. The people were very helpful is seemed like they had read my mind and knew everything in it and was prepared to guide ahead almost like a time delayed show on tv so the audience could be ready for next move. I found this book by accident in the lobby very scary when I first looked at it, but seems silly to go to all this trouble to me to write all this?
