Romania, Rembrandt and Recommendations

five stars

Bucharest is an up and coming European travel destination, it a city that you have to discover but its worth it. Surprisingly for a city of its size, most of the attractions are either a short taxi drive away. For atmosphere I would head the historic centre, with its excellent bars, restaurants and antique galleries and stay in the newly opened Rembrandt. A very stylish and intimate boutique hotel. its a real find and definitely recommended. enjoy bucharest now before everyone the secret is out!.

i'l come back as soon as posible

five stars

I like the center of the city with unique arithecture and the north place where it seems to be the new part of the city with lots of big office buldings and verry big beautiful green areas. I didn't liked the south parth of city and the north railord station area .... The people around here are verry friendly, many people know english and french, the pub's are the best, night life is verry hot :p.. the chix are hot to :)

Romania Revisted

five stars

It has only been two weeks since we got back from Romania. We lived in Romania for three years off and on since 1998. In those past years I can see why they did call Bucharest the Paris of the East. It was dirty, people rude, etc. It was for that reason we did not fly into Bucharest to see Romania. We always flew through Hungary. But this time we decided to give Bucharest one more chance. I was truly amazed. The courtesy displayed, and quality of service made us decided that we come back again through Bucharest. No longer was the arrogant attitude of the(F). That attitude will definately hurt the tour industry. They are still flandering. Anyway,... I observed the female staff still need to learn not to be in their emotions when dealing with other woman. For example, we stayed in a four star hotel. I had asked this woman if she could take a photo of us. She asked me, "what for?" shoulders and arms in motion. I smiled and said to her " because we are tourist?" Then she realized what took place and took the photo. We thanked her. She thought we wanted her to take a photo of her. What I found interesting was that Hungarians were crossing the border to purchase inexpensive gorceries from Romania. Many of them had complained that entering the EU had not helped them or their counrtry but has hurt it. Those that it did helpd were those who already had. The everyday people are worse off. Village people can't kill their livestock on their property, they can't raise chickens like they once were able to, so on and so on. I was amazed at this because now the roles are reversed. We were in Budapest just nine(9) months ago. We could see the hardship in the peoples faces and in their attitude. This certainly was not going to encourage us to return. The quality did not warrant the price! I believe this is what Romania has to be aware off.Romania can stand on her own she does not need to be following into the same foot steps of Hungary or Europe. Repeat travel for us into Budapest was discouraged(we been their over ten(10)times. But for Romania, now that it is another story!:-) Romania in my opinion is the last European country before entering Asia. Yes we've been to Bulgaria, etc. I am a historian.:-)

a place to fall in love with it

four stars

the city is such a mix of history (part of it unfortunately comunist) - as the autorities are now restoring the historical center (the cars are not allowed!) and modern buildings. one of the greatest architectural styles is "brancovenesc" (a XVIII century romanian leader) which u can observe at cotroceni palace (actually, presidential residence) and most of the buildings in "Heroes" zone. there also many clubs (don't miss Kristal, the office) but also restaurants - like locanta jaristea, livada cu visini. i like this country! it's something exotic in it... find out what.

Simply surprising

five stars

One of the most beautiful cities in Europe. A very interesting city with a variety of sights. The capital of eastern europe even more beautiful than Budapest or Prague. Take the chance and visit this nice city as fast as you can.
