don't get me wrong 'cause i love my country Portugal, but if you wanna have some proper holidays just try the north interior. friendly people, lovely food and a lot of pure air for us to regain our energies from an exausting year of work.Believe me just give it a try.forget lisbon, the algarve and all those touristic resorts.

(Report Problem)I didnt stay in Lisbon itself but took a bus journey (35minutes) to a place called Cascais. Its a small fishing village with a harbour. Its a very friendly place with lotsof decent hotels and nice places to eat. It made for a very relaxing three day break from the UK. Flights are relatively cheap to get to Lisbon and either as a day trip from Lisbon or indeed a short break all on its own it really merits a visit if your thinking of getting away to Portugal. I went in September and the weather was still really warm and sunny. Even the sea is a bearable temperature... a visit is recommended.
Great for: Beaches, History/Culture, Budget Travel
Last Visit: september 2003

(Report Problem)I went to Lisbon last year for Euro 2004. The transport links are quite cheap and similar to those in London. The underground is cheap and easy to use. The people are really friendly.
Great for: Beaches, History/Culture, Nightlife
Last Visit: July 2004

(Report Problem)We stayed at the Sana Metropolitan Hotel Lisboa. The staff was excellent. Breakfast buffett was furnished with our rooms and was generous. We were always told about how much our taxi charges should be before we left--as if there might be a problem with some of the drivers wanting to over charge us--but we never had a problem. Everyone was just extremely kind to us. When we were unable to mail our postcards before departing for the airport, the front desk staff mailed them for us. I would very much like to return one day with my children. I would have liked to have had more assistance in possible sightseeing opportunities.

(Report Problem)Lisbon was very fun, great food, the people were nice, we stayed in a very cheap but nice hotel, don't miss the Theives Market, and check out the Chirst the King statue (across the estuary), where a few blocks away you can eat at local resturants where you get to point to the fish you will eat, for 8 Euros, ironically the Naval Museum was flooded when we were there, so we didn't get a chance to visit it

(Report Problem)I had a great time in Lisbon exploring the city. Downtown the christmas lights are just amazing, and they have the tallest christmas tree in Europe. Dont miiss Hennesy's Irish Pub at the waterfront.
