Just come back from 9 days in Krakow. My Partner and I are keen on culture and history. We had gorgeous weather and some nice food. The Salt Mine, The Black Madonna and Aushwitz are well worth a visit but catch a bus or train and dont bother with the very expensive tours advertised. Aushwitz was rather sanitised considering the horrific things that happened there but we had a very good lady Guide. We visited Zacopane that has a lovely all wooden church and a the most fascinating cemetary (I never thought I would ever say that!) The Guides were very variable and most speak terrible English which takes all your concentration to try and understand. Very disappointed that a couple of the most important museums were not open (The National Museum is a must to get an overview of Polands eventful history). We were everywhere in Krakow and met quite a few Poles and have to say that we met only two ladies who were very nice. Krakow relies on its tourism but they are positively rude to you all the time! A Mystery! You will be spoilt for nice restaurants and if you like Art Nouveau then you will really love it. Have a nice time
Great for: History/Culture, Theatre/Music
