(Report Problem)Just simply fantastic place - Venice never fails to meet expectations, and even though so many people visit each year, it maintains its integrity and allure.

(Report Problem)Once you have visited Venice, you will never forget it. Transport is fantastic - you can get a waterbus anywhere. If you're there for long enough (and you should be) get a 3 day ticket for unlimited travel - it will get you to the islands of Murano and Burano, which are lovely, and cheaper than the centre.- It will also get you back to the airport by bus. Beware that there is building renovation going on, but this can't really be avoided if the city is to be preserved in all its beauty. A 'must buy' is a Venetian mask or 2 - all sorts of sizes and designs.

(Report Problem)Loved everything about Venice it has a life of its own just magical. Would recommend staying on the Island itself, we stayed in Mestre and the travelling to and from ate into our short time there, really check out the location of your hotel.

(Report Problem)Lovely place to go for a weekend, but I feel that we did pretty much everything there was to do in the 3 days we were there. think again about going if you're not interested in culture/churches, etc. Once you've been there a day, it's pretty easy to find your way aroung. there are signs painted on the buildings on the corners of most alleys to the most popular places, such as Rialto/Dan Marco, etc. Found food and drink to be quite expensive and it doesn't really cater for veggies at all as my partner found out (lived on pizza and pasta with tomato), but obviously the italian you do get is lovely. Other than that, it's a truly beautiful city. Not overly friendly for tourists, but a good thing for us is that we didn't have any problems with the smell. But like others have said, this may have been the time of year. We were also annoyed at the cost of the gondolas, which we were (obviously, as it's Venice) hoping to do. Unfortunately we had to miss out as we couldn't warrant spending circa. 70 euros. But if you've got the money, you've got to do it. Also, women beware that you will quite probably be bugged by street-sellers with 'designer' bags and purses. But if you fancy a romantic weekend (don't mind walking a lot) and have a fair bit of money in your pockets, you can have an amazing time I'm sure. If none of the latter, you can still have a great time.

(Report Problem)If money is no object you can do as you please and spend spend spend. If you prefer a more relaxing time you can walk and walk and walk. Not for the elderly or families with young children. From a cultural standpoint you cannot ask for a better venue. I should know I live 25 miles outside Venice.

(Report Problem)I thought it was a wonderful city. Not smelly as some suggest, but this may be the time of year I went. The people were friendly, although the men are very dominent (I went with a group of nine women - they didn't like this very much) Our hotel was very central just off the Rialto Bridge, very basic with we only slept there, just as well because all the hotels are very close and the rooms seem very dark. I would thoroughly recomend anybody going.
