Favorite city in Italy

five stars

Rome was absolutely wonderful. The best time to go is over the Christmas Holidays when the airfares/hotel rates are lower, there aren't throngs of other tourist, and the temperatures are mild. With some minor planning, the food was spectacular and cheap. The locals were extremely nice and friendly.

I will go back every few years

five stars

I don't feel safe when kids walk alongside with you. The couple behinds us almost had their wallet snatched. They fought them off to save it. This could happen in any big city, of course.

Radisson Rome (and Concora Taxi at Airport)

four stars

Clean, safe, new hotel with top of the line fitness facility for weights and cardio. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room safes are a great plus and it is convenient to subway. Some oddities in the room including a glass see thru shower (in the room) and a glass door in the bath. Room uses a strange mechanical shade to block out the outside light. But I would be willing to stay here again. PS Stay away from the Concora "taxi" service at the airport. It is a rippoff and you would do better getting a regular cab. They pull a bait and switch, offering a reduced fair on the way home, then pack in multiple people in a van resulting in a lengthy, cattle car return to the airport.

It's what life is all about

five stars

Rome is the most charming, incandescent city in the world. I have been there more than a dozen times and each time I fall in love all over again. The last couple of times we rented apartment in the centro storico. That's the best way for an extended inexpensive stay. This is a city of many contradictions - intensely parochial on the one hand and the center of the universe on the other. There's something in the atmosphere that is absolutely intoxicating. I always feel exuberantly alive in Rome and look forward to returning often.

Time Travel

five stars

I loved everything because it all contributed to the dream-like atmosphere. A separate dimension between the Ancient past and the present. The undeniable reality of the past and the strong presence of its Spirit. I truly feel like I experienced time-travel.
