Compared to other cities in Italy, Rome would not be my first choice to visit. The food is mediocre, and the cost of living is higher. Pickpocketers abound and the police do not offer much support for those who have been victimized. The city is filled with litter. The residents and some tourists show a lack of respect for the ancient sites by littering and by writing graffiti. If you want romance and desire to meet locals, I would recommend Sorrento (the Amalfi coast) or Florence. The food is much better there as well.

(Report Problem)Rome, a wonderful experience. From the monuments to the food, Italy has it all. Great places to visit are of course Foro Romano, St. Peters Church and Pantheon among many others. I recommend this place to stay, they have a wonderful apartment perfect for families [romanaccommodations(dot)com] My favourite food was "Spaghetti alle vongole" (claims). You can't miss such wonderful shopping streets as Via del Corso, and of course Piazza Spagna. Avoid the area near the main train station. In Italy is normal that men "hunts" for foreigners since Italian girls can't go out and drink, so be prepared to be the center of attention. Overall, Rome is an amazing capital, full of history and culture. Thanks! Jenny

(Report Problem)I loved Rome so much, what an experience, it is such a beautiful city. I was there for 10 days and didnt get to see everything I want to see, I cant wait to go back. I loved The Colliseum and the Roman Forum, Piazza Navana, Vatican Museum, Borghese Museum, St Pauls Cathedral( I saw the pope there) The food was great and affordable..The fashion there is amazing, the people are all dressed fashionable, no jeans or sneakers. One annoying thing were the street peddlers by the Trevi Fountain, they were harrassing me and my family as well as other people-there were over 20 of them. If you go there be careful.

(Report Problem)Rome is life time amazing experience which one can never forget. It happened to me the most excellent trip of life, I felt as I am going though the history. Specially in Collesum & Vici Gallery. Still thrive to see more in Rome.

(Report Problem)Simply overwhelming city of history. SO much time can be spent studying the rich history of both the Romans and the Church. Both, in my opinion, are equally spectacular. It is amazing as an American to stand amidst such old architecture that eclipses the age of anything in the U.S. We truly are a young, young nation in comparison. Definitely check it out!

(Report Problem)I had the most fun in Rome. The city is huge and full of great things to see, Especially at night!! I did not have a single brush with theivery, and neither did my friends. I went to a small cafe near the Collesum and have the best pizza ever, and the eccentric tourguide of the Collesum was excellent. Would go back soon! Nighttime at the spanish steps is wonderful. Met my Italian love story there...too bad we will neer see eachother again :(...I even miss the street vendors..they were alot of fun. Rome, Italy....what a trip!

(Report Problem)If you have any common sense the thieves wont give you any problems, If the place you are stay at has safes in your room then leave the passport and anything you don't need. avoid eating near tourist sites they will rake you over the coals when it comes to the price..

(Report Problem)Rome is a magical city with a exotic mixture of culture, ethnicity, and archtiecture. It feels as if you'd just stepped into a fairytale stroy, but the occasional sound of a european motorcycle wakes you wake up. The people are charming, cheerful, and very open-hearted as well as curious. I have dreamed of being in Rome all my life, and now I know I didn't waste dreaming. Ciao!
